Welcome to Glam in Gotham

Hello!

I’m Mary, and I am so excited to welcome you to  Glam in Gotham. This blog is devoted to two beautiful symbiotic ideas: my love of fashion and style and my love letter to my new home, New York City.

I have always felt strongly that fashion is art, and it is a beautiful medium to articulate and express your true self. I’m all about bright colors, cool embellishments, creating a sense of whimsy, and without a doubt being authentic to myself.

I have just relocated to NYC. One of the many reasons I love NYC so much is that I can wear whatever I want to wear and be whoever I want to be, and still feel accepted. It’s empowering and intoxicating. It makes me feel strong and confident that I am exactly where I am meant to be.

I grew up on the Jersey Shore, but have lived in Washington, DC since attending the University of Maryland for college. I had a small style and travel blog called Seersucker Optional, dedicated to cute outfits and colorful places. Last summer, my husband, Nate, and I decided that we were ready to finally make the jump to New York City. This move has been quite a journey, and with this new transition, it gave me time to reflect on the rest of my life. Like other parts of my life, did Seersucker Optional still fit? I am thrilled to launch this next chapter.

With this new iteration, if I am going to put my life on the internet, I strive to be more transparent and  authentic. You can never share the ENTIRE 360, but let’s try to show as many angles as possible. While I feel I have never been INAUTHENTIC, I definitely was all about showing a very edited slice.

I look forward to sharing the good, the bad, the messy, and sometimes even too much.

Xoxo, Mary
