Twirling into the Week

Being a NYC fashion blogger is definitely a new adventure for me. I certainly wear a lot more gold than in my former life. I wanted to share a few styling notes today. This spectacular Prabal Gurung dress had unusually long straps, but I was so in love with the flared skirt. I decided to add this fun gold ruched vintage jacket over top and style it with lots of gold accents. The jacket adds a voluminous edge, and I think keeps me from looking like I take myself too seriously. It’s a good juxtaposition between a pretty dress and a street style moment.

I’m very fond of taking a cool vintage piece and trying to style it in a modern way. This jacket is the perfect example. It’s such a unique piece, a windbreaker with amazing texture. I love finding interesting pieces like this. They’re a nightmare on my closet space (lol), but so much fun to wear and versatile! I thought the jacket really added some texture and made it a lot more noteworthy. Adding a lot of gold really pops against the violet dress. Bright accessories can really spice up a solid color.

The gold chain belt is actually from my friend Pretty Connected’s shop. She makes the most beautiful chains for camera straps, purse chains, or even necklaces. I’m wearing mine as a belt. The chain is incredibly luxe and it made for great accessory!

I hope everyone else’s week is off to a great start!

Xoxo, Mary
